Smart Rugby is a partnership led by Federación Galega de Rugby (Spain) with Associação do Rugby do Norte (Portugal), ACS Rugby Cluj Junior (Romania), Muralla RC (Spain) and RFC Sumi XV (Spain) as associated partners.
The main objective of Smart Rugby is the preparation, development and implementation of educational and training instruments through rugby as a grassroot sport for the personal, social and professional development of children under 12. We have chosen rugby as it is the field of activity of all the institutions involved in this project.
SmartRugby have been selected for co-funding by the Erasmus+ Sport programme. The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) received 1107 eligible applications for this call. 315 have been selected for funding (121 Collaborative Partnerships, 180 Small Collaborative Partnerships and 14 Not-for-profit European sport events) and 5 have been placed on a reserve list.
Smart Rugby is one of 315 projects selected for co-funding by the Erasmus+ Sport programme among 1107 eligible applications for this call.

This initiative supports the European Commission’s goal of promoting sport and physical activity across Europe, in the light of declining levels of participation, through children education of with the help of sports values.

Federación Galega de Rugby (FGR)
Founded in 1983, the Galician Rugby Federation is a private, non-profit body, the only one competent within the region of Galicia (NUTS II ES11) to promote and manage all rugby activity. It is integrated into the Spanish Rugby Federation, and it has four territorial delegations as follows: one in A Coruña County, one in Lugo County, one in Ourense County and another one in Pontevedra County. It counts with 16 affiliated clubs and a total number of 1,538 registered players.
Associação de Rugby do Norte (ARN)
Founded in 1998, the Associação de Rugby do Norte is a private, non-profit entity representing the interests of clubs belonging to the Northern Region of Portugal (NUTS II PT11). The ARN is affiliated with the Portuguese Rugby Federation and has 10 member clubs and 993 registered players.
Asociația Clubul Sportiv Rugby Cluj Junior
Founded at the end of 2018, Cluj Junior Rugby Sports Club Association, is a non-profit entity in Cluj-Napoca, located in the nordwest region of Romania (NUTS RO11), is a rugby club for children under the Romanian Rugby Federation. In less than two years we have over 50 children registered players in 5 age categories.
Muralla Rugby Club
Founded in 1986, Muralla Rugby Club is a rugby club located in the city of Lugo. Affiliated to the Galician Rugby Federation, it currently has 132 registered players, corresponding to categories distributed among a senior women’s, senior men’s, U16 mixed, U14 mixed and rugby school that covers the mixed categories from U6 to U12. The teams compete in the regional leagues organized by the FGR.

Rugby Football Club Sumi XV
Founded in August 2019, Rugby Football Club Sumi XV is a very recently created non-profit sports association whose main activity is rugby. Located in Cortegada Village, in a rural area, in the county of Ourense, Region of Galicia (NUTS II ES11).
